A wave of photography exhibitions this winter bring diverse perspectives on Arctic life and land to international audiences. At London’s Photographer’s Gallery, Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson’s At the Edge of the World documents four decades of life in Arctic hunting communities, capturing their humanity and resilience amid unprecedented environmental change. The biennial Icelandic Photography Festival kicks off this January, featuring thirteen venues showcasing diverse perspectives from international artists, ranging from intimate family narratives to environmental contemplations. In Northern Ireland, High Latitudes by Julie Wilson and Susan Moody examines Svalbard’s changing environment through lens-based media, highlighting connections between historic polar exploration and current climate challenges. All exhibitions run through early 2025, offering artist talks and educational programming. Contact venues for visiting details.
