Bildmuseet’s latest exhibition brings the sounds of spring in Sápmi to life through artificial intelligence. Opening at Bildmuseet in Umeå, Sápmi, Machine Auguries marks the first of two exhibitions exploring AI technologies at this leading contemporary art museum. Artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg collaborated with Umeå University’s Arctic Centre and local researchers to create an AI-generated dawn chorus reflecting the region’s distinct seasonal changes. The project, marking Ginsberg’s first solo show in Sweden, is part of Bildmuseet’s broader investigation into AI and society, supported by the Wallenberg AI research program. Premiering in January 2025 alongside works from London and Toledo, the exhibition runs from October 18, 2024 to April 6, 2025.
